International Water Safety Day 2019

May 15th is International Water Safety Day, a day that we hold very close to our hearts here at Aquaview. Our mission is providing safety to those all across America by offering our custom glass pool fences. Accidental drowning is the #1 cause of death for children under 4 years old. Of these fatal accidents, about 76% happen in residential pools. Many of these accidental drownings happen during the months of May through August, which is why May is chosen for International Water Safety Month. Drowning can be prevented by awareness and water safety education. Take time this month to learn how you can make your pool area safer with our 5 water safety tips.

1. Adult Supervision

Always make sure to watch your children when they are by the pool, even if they aren’t swimming. 69% of accidental drownings have happened when a parent was near, so make sure to pay extra attention to young children.

2. Pool Safety Fences

A safety barrier can lower the risk of accidental drowning by 83%. We at Aquaview are more than happy to help you with this safety precaution. Installing a glass pool fence allows you to see more clearly what is going on in and around the pool area; ensuring that no one sneaks in or is without supervision. Our glass pool gates are self-closing and self-latching as well, providing an added layer of security.

3. Locks and Alarms

By having a pool lock or alarm, you are ensuring that no child can enter the pool area without your knowledge.

4. Swimming Lessons

Making sure your children know how to swim and float can help prevent children from accidentally drowning.

5. CPR Training

Taking the time to learn CPR can help in the event of an accidental drowning. If something like this does happen, its best to call 9-1-1 and perform CPR. This video can help you learn how.

This year have a fun and safe summer by the pool by learning these tips and teaching those around you. If you have any questions on how to make your pool safer with glass pool fencing, please give us a call at 877-229-7034.
